ICA Fluor has been awarded a $100m contract by Sempra LNG’s subsidiary Energia Costa Azul for the construction of a nitrogen injection plant and a 26MW power generation facility.
The 22-month project will take place within the Energia Costa Azul liquified natural gas (LNG) regasification terminal north of Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.
Under the contract, ICA Fluor will perform engineering, procurement, construction and start-up of the nitrogen injection plant.
The finished plant is expected to produce up to 500,000 cubic metres of nitrogen per day, and ICA Fluor said the expansion would allow greater flexibility and a wider range of gas imports to the Energia Costa Azul receipt terminal.
