IAE International Aero Engines announced recently that Sichuan Airlines selected the V2500 to power an additional two Airbus A319s and four Airbus A321s.
Sichuan Airlines also becomes the Chinese launch customer for V2500Select and will extend this aftermarket agreement to cover their fleet of 14 additional V2500-powered Airbus A320 family aircraft in a deal worth more than $370m to IAE.
Under their V2500Select agreement, Sichuan Airlines will also become the inaugural mainland China operator to introduce the SelectOne build standard of engines delivered after mid-2008.
IAE’s Vice President, China, Craig Welsh said: “Sichuan Airlines has established itself as a pioneering force in China’s rapidly-growing aviation industry. The airline was the mainland China launch customer for the V2500 and the Airbus A320 in 1995, and has further enhanced its ground-breaking reputation by opting to back its V2500-powered fleet expansion with V2500Select’.
The 22,000-33,000lb of thrust V2500-A5 is available in seven different thrust settings to power the Airbus A319, A320 and A321 family of aircraft as well as the A319 Corporate Jet.
