Hull is Siemens' preferred site for wind-turbine facility

Siemens and Associated British Ports (ABP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in connection with ABP’s proposed Green Port Hull development at Alexandra Dock, Hull.

Both parties will now work together to develop plans for the construction of a new Siemens offshore wind-turbine manufacturing and export facility at the port.

Matt Jukes, port director for Hull & Goole, said: ‘Siemens is the leading offshore wind turbine and grid connections supplier in the UK, and this will be a significant development.

‘Today’s announcement is the first very significant step on the ladder to delivery and ABP, Hull City Council and the other stakeholders will now need to push on with obtaining the necessary consents and approvals that are needed to move this project forward.

‘The real reward for the city will be when we are able to announce that we are about to start building the facility.’
