General Dynamics supplies sub spares

The US Navy has awarded General Dynamics Electric Boat a $12.2m material order to supply spares for turbine generator and main propulsion units used in its Virginia-Class submarines.
Ships of the Virginia class are the first US Navy combat submarines designed for the post-Cold War era.
Electric Boat delivered the first submarine of the class, USS Virginia (SSN-774), to the Navy in October 2004. In June, the company’s construction partner, Northrop Grumman, delivered the second ship of the class, Texas?(SSN-775).
Electric Boat and its partner have contracts to build another eight Virginia-class submarines. A total of 30 ships are planned.
