The US Air Force has selected an Advanced Boresight Equipment (ABE) system from AAI Corporation to align the avionic equipment on the AC-130H aircraft.
AAI, a subsidiary of United Industrial, received two orders worth $2.1m from Support Systems Associates as part of a military acquisition program known as Special Operations Forces Support Services Contract II.
The boresight system is a gyro-stabilised, electro-optical system that provides alignment accuracy of weapons and sensor systems for aircraft. It is based on the ABE model 310A common boresight system.
The ABE system is scheduled for delivery next year.
‘We've already delivered boresight systems for this customer's F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighters, C-17 Globemaster III heavylifters, and C-130 Avionics Modernization Program platforms, and now we'll provide the boresight system for AC-130H aircraft,’ said Ed Buffington, vice president of AAI's Test Systems.
