Austrian road toll system manufacturer Efkon has won an order worth more than €5m for the delivery of electronic toll systems and onboard units (OBUs) in
Under the terms of the contract, Efkon will supply 200,000 multi-lane free flow OBUs, for installation in vehicles as well as in a multi-lane free flow system.
The Austrian company’s ISO-certified continuous air interface for long and medium range (CALM) technology is based on active bi-directional infra-red communications and enables fully electronic payment of toll taxes, as well as enabling fees to be collected in the public transport networks, car parks, cabs and at filling stations.
Efkon has been active on the Malaysian market since 2004, and the implementation of this latest order will raise the number of Efkon’s OBUs in Malaysian cars to more than one million.
