Eurofins has recently been awarded a €28m contract to provide water testing and sampling services to Southern Water.
Jon Crooke, Operations director at Southern Water, said: ‘Our agreement with Eurofins to provide testing and sampling services ensures that Southern Water can focus on its core business and secure efficiency gains and cost savings which will benefit customers.’
As well as providing these services under the five-year contract, Eurofins will take over Southern Water’s laboratories based in Falmer, Otterbourne and Chatham.
A total of 132 Southern Water staff conducting these services will join the Eurofins operations, although the contract is conditional on a number of factors, including an employee consultation period.
John Rowley, managing director of Eurofins Environmental Services, said, ‘Our agreement with Southern Water represents an important and substantial step in Eurofins’ strategic development in the United Kingdom.’
Southern Water provides water and waste water services to more than four million people across the south east of England.
