Electro-mec has launched a new generation of its market leading EMF tablet and capsule blister pack feeder. The new model, the NG, is capable of meeting increasing demand for the packing of multi-product blisters and features a number of enhancements for even more accurate and faster handling of a wide variety of products.
The NG has been designed on a modular basis, enabling the machine to be tailored to the precise combination of web width and draw of individual customers.
Its more compact dimensions mean that up to three individual units can be installed side by side on a single standard bed length blister machine. This allows fast and accurate filling of multi-product blisters, with individual control of each product. In addition, the NG is also compatible with continuous motion blister machines.
The latest model retains Electro-mec’s pioneering ‘individual feed’ technology, with separate feeder tubes that dose a single tablet or capsule into the blister form per cycle. This enables accurate positioning of the product into each form for fast filling speeds, and also prevents shingling, chipping and damage caused by collision with other tablets. The feed tubes in the NG now feature a helical design which eliminates the possibility of tube jams with “shingle prone” products.
Other enhancements include remote touch screen control and tooling that is secured without fasteners to comply with latest cGMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) requirements. The NG is also compatible with existing change part tooling and its modular construction allows fast and easy changeovers.
The launch of the NG marks the first major development for Electro-mec since the company was acquired by Avid Holdings plc in February 2007 and underlines the new parent company’s stated commitment to further grow and develop Electro-mec as a leading supplier to the European pharmaceutical industry.
“This model is a direct response to changing demands on the packing line, in particular the need for speed and flexibility to handle multi-product application,” comments Ray Kirby of Electro-mec. “It is a perfect example of how the best just got better.”
In addition to its EMF range, Electro-mec manufactures high quality change part tools for blister pack machines, supplying sets for all makes and models of equipment.
