Dong Energy is investing €39m to build 12 Nordex 2.5MW wind turbines for the Storrun wind farm in Sweden.
The turbines will have a total output of 30MW and are scheduled to go on stream when the wind farm starts operations at the end of 2009.
‘The decision to build Storrun wind farm is part of DONG Energy’s strategy to expand within renewable energy in Northern Europe,’ said Anders Eldrup, chief executive officer.
Borevind AB has a time-limited option to buy into the project by subscription of new shares equivalent to a 20 per cent ownership interest. If this is taken they will then be under obligation to fund 20 per cent of the remaining financing requirement.
