Contract aimed at General Dynamics

The US Army Joint Munitions Command at Rock Island, Illinois, has awarded General Dynamics the first year of a multiple award contract for the production of 30mm target practice cartridges.

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems will supply 30mm PGU015 A/B target practice cartridges for a contract that has a total potential value of $74.6m.

The 30mm PGU-15 A/B is a low cost cartridge that is ballistically matched to the PGU-13/B HEI combat round. They will be used by US Air Force pilots for training with the A-10 GAU-8/A Gatling gun.

General Dynamics will carry out the work at its Marion, Illinois factory, and is expected to finish in October 2008.
