TRW Automotive's Kelsey-Hayes subsidiary is to close its Jackson, MI manufacturing facility by July 2006.
The planned facility closure is a result of relentlessly increasing pricing pressures in the marketplace and the need to improve competitiveness to attract future business.
The Jackson plant has approximately 400 employees and manufactures braking components for the automotive industry.
The new follows the announcement by TRW Automotive that it will also shut its Sterling Heights, MI manufacturing facility in the same time frame.
The Sterling Heights facility has approximately 135 employees and assembles ball joints and conventional steering linkage for the automotive industry.
"We do not have the volume of business to support the manufacturing capacity of the Sterling Heights facility," said Ron Muckley, vice president of operations for TRW's braking and suspension business in North America.
