According to a statement, approximately 3,000 bespoke components will be needed over the next 12 months to complete the jet- and rocket-powered vehicle that is being prepared for an attempt on a record speed of 1,000mph.

Businesses can find parts indexed by specialism, such as CAD design, additive manufacture, CNC machining and composites. Other components include the 1.6m-high tail fin, 90cm wheels for UK runway testing up to 200mph and the drivers pedal box that will control the throttle for the jet engine and wheel disc brakes.
Businesses are being invited to select and quote for the work packages they are interested in undertaking. If accepted, design drawings and, where applicable, the tooling and materials, will then be provided to them.
The Bloodhound team aims to produce a rolling chassis by Christmas 2012 with UK runway tests scheduled for the second quarter of 2013. High-speed testing on the desert race track, Hakskeen Pan, South Africa, is slated for the third quarter of 2013.
The Bloodhound Education Programme now has 4,800 primary and secondary schools from across the UK signed up and using Bloodhound education resources designed to illuminate science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) lessons.
The programme is also growing internationally with 3,666 schools from 62 countries involved.
