Raytheon Technical Services Company
(RTSC) has been awarded a five-year, indefinite delivery-indefinite quantity contract to support the US Department of Defense’s counter-narcoterrorism activities.
This multiple contractor award has an estimated ceiling of $15bn, providing equipment, material and services to the DOD’s Counter-Narcoterrorism Technology Program Office (CNTPO).
Under the terms of the contract, RTSC may provide support to CNTPO in three areas: technology development and application; training, operations and logistics support; and professional and executive support. Work began on August 24 and will continue until August 23 2012.
RTSC, a subsidiary of Raytheon Company, will lead a team that includes EG&G, a division of URS, Science Applications International, Battelle, and others.
The team aim to produce innovative solutions, responsive support and experienced management to help the combatant commanders and others involved in stopping narcoterrorist and illegal drug activities.
Narcoterrorism can be loosely defined as the financing of terrorist activities by participation in the drug trade. The most notorious narcoterrorist was said to be Pablo Escobar, who waged a campaign of violence against the Columbian government.
