The 155mm LRLAP is being developed for the US Navy DDG 1000 destroyer programme, a class of destroyers tailored for land attack and littoral dominance, and will be fired from the Advanced Gun System (AGS).
According to BAE Systems, the 155mm LRLAP is an all-weather, precision-guided munition that has demonstrated successful gun launch and engineering-guided flight to ranges in excess of 63 nautical miles.
The 155mm LRLAP qualification programme contract will conclude in December 2012. Work will be performed at the BAE Systems facilities in Minneapolis and Louisville and at Lockheed Martin’s facility in Orlando.
