Austrian Airlines has signed an order for the purchase of one Boeing 777-200ER worth $181 million at list prices.

The airplane is currently scheduled for delivery in late 2006. The agreement includes the cancellation of a previous order by Austrian Airlines for a 737.
"The 777 has proven to be a most economical and reliable aircraft and one that is well liked by our passengers," said Austrian Airlines Chief Financial Officer Thomas Kleibl. "Standardising with the 777-200ER will deliver immediate economic and operational benefits and help keep our fleet amongst the youngest in the world."
According to Boeing, the twin-engine 777 is the most fuel-efficient airplane in its category, and it releases fewer emissions into the environment than its four-engined competitor.
