Atlas Copco introduces new 30 – 45kW compact compressors Atlas Copco has now introduced three new models in its 30-45kW range of GA oil-injected rotary screw compressors. The new compressors offer full integration of air and condensate management, low-noise operation and occupy the minimum footprint at the point of use on the production floor. All three models are available as 7.5, 8, 10, and 13bar pressure variants. For performance and capacity comparison at a working pressure of 7bar, the GA 30+ offers a FAD of 96 l/s (203 cfm), the GA37 delivers 107 l/s (229 cfm), and output from the GA45 is 129 l/s (270 cfm). The new compressors feature an extreme-duty gearbox that is maintenance free and designed to run in the toughest of ambient conditions (up to 55°C). The gearbox is totally enclosed and provides performance efficiency that is equal to direct drive concepts. Another specific innovation is the compressors’ built-to last unloaders whose modulating force is pressure and vacuum, so there are no big heavy springs. This simpler design means fewer parts and greater reliability from units optimised for lower pressure drops
The unique features of the new GA30+, GA37, GA45 include an aftercooler with integrated water separator for 100% condensate separation and virtually no pressure drops. The compressors also incorporate no loss, electronic water drains that communicate with the controller, combine high drain capacity with intelligent controls, and guarantee trouble-free operation for the aftercooler and IFD dryer.
The extreme-duty IFD’s are designed to perform with total reliability in the most severe conditions, at up to 46°C ambient temperature, with the option of 55°C for the Pack version and 50°C for the Full Feature variant Saver cycle technology reduces the energy consumption of the integrated refrigerant dryers in light load applications. An ambient sensor monitors the required dewpoint suppression and the Elektronikon operating system starts and stops the dryer when the compressor has stopped, thereby minimising energy consumption and protecting the air system from corrosion.
Other distinctive features of the new GA models include superior water pressure dew points of 3ºC (37º F) and an oil carry-over of <3mg/m3. The .GA drive system is 100% maintenance free, and the high-efficiency oil filter removes 300% smaller particles than conventional filters.
Designed for superior productivity, this new generation of integrated WorkPlace compressors packs a great deal into an extremely compact design - with reductions of 32% in length, 11% in depth and 10% in height - that decreases external pipework costs, minimises pressure drop across the system and increases energy efficiency.
