PSA Peugeot Citroën and the BMW Group are working together to build a new family of small 4-cylinder petrol engines that will be used in Peugeot, Citroën and Mini cars.
As part of the joint effort between the two car giants, a 330 million Euro production line will be brought on stream in late 2005 at the PSA Peugeot Citroën’s Douvrin plant in Northern France plant to machine the main engine components - cylinder head, crankcase, crankshaft and connecting rod.
Engine assembly will be then divided between each partner’s facilities - Douvrin for PSA Peugeot Citroën and Hams Hall in the UK for Mini.
Covering a surface area of approximately 60,000 square metres, the new line will be run by 1,120 employees working in four shifts.
