Yorkshire Water
has awarded West Yorkshire engineering company
A&J Fabtecha five-year framework agreement for the design, manufacture and supply of scraper bridges and associated equipment. Financial terms will be dependent on initial assessment of the equipment to replaced and new build planned.
Scraper bridges are used in water treatment works to move all the material from the conical base of settling tanks towards the middle for extraction. They are used in both sewage treatment and clean water tanks, which can range in size from two to 40 metres.
A&J manufactures rotary scraper equipment in-house and has manufactured and installed over 200 rotary scraping units in the UK over the last five years in addition to overseas projects.
Speaking for A&J, Nigel Stansfield said, “The framework agreement is an indication of the way a lot of the industry is going with supplier agreements and is effectively one step up from preferred supplier status. By making this five-year agreement with us and other suppliers, Yorkshire knows who it’s dealing with for major projects.”
A&J Fabtech heads up a heavy engineering group servicing the power, water, construction and manufacturing industries. The group manufactures a range of specialist products in addition to water treatment, equipment including concrete construction moulds, wind turbine towers, industrial chimneys, economisers and pressure vessels.
