The traction transformers, to be manufactured at ABB’s Sécheron unit in Geneva, are equipped with an integrated cooling system to support the modular Régiolis train design.
‘The compact design and high reliability of these transformers is ideally suited for such applications, ensuring maximum performance and energy efficiency,’ said Tarak Mehta, head of ABB’s global transformers business.
The single-level, low-floor Régiolis trains can travel at speeds up to 160kph and are available in both electric and hybrid versions, operating at two voltage levels: 15 and 25kV.
