ABB has signed an agreement with Cooper Tire and Rubber Company to manage maintenance operations at its Albany, Georgia plant in the US. The companies have not disclosed financial details.
The ABB Full Service agreement covers a five-year period, and is the first agreement of its type for ABB in the North American automotive industry.
Under the terms of the agreement, ABB will assume some 100 maintenance employees and responsibility for all maintenance related activities and equipment at the plant. It will also manage the operations to contractually-agreed targets for plant performance.
Cooper Tire & Rubber Company is a global company that specialises in the design, manufacture, marketing and sales of passenger car, light truck and medium truck tyres. It also has subsidiaries that specialise in motorcycle and racing tyres, as well as tread rubber and related equipment for the retread industry.
