ABB has unveiled a faster robot known as the IRB 6660, which it expects to increase productivity, uptime and accuracy in the press tending industry.
According to ABB, cycle times are 15 per cent shorter after the most critical robot axes were enhanced depending on typical interpress cycle requirements.
The IRB 6660 was designed to have a stiffer parallel arm, which offers more stability and accuracy in its transferring operations. Gears and other robot parts have also been reinforced to extend the life cycle of the robot.
The greatest load for the IRB 6660 is 130kg and the maximum working range is 3.1m.
