Australia-based Green and Gold Energy (GGE) has awarded a follow-on production order to EMCORE for three million solar cells for use in GGE’s SunCube terrestrial concentrator system.
The 105MW order follows on from an initial 5MW order placed earlier this year.
EMCORE will supply its Concentrator Triple-Junction (CTJ) solar cell products, which have been designed and optimised for GGE’s 1100x terrestrial concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) system, and are said to have a conversion efficiency of 39 per cent.
Furthermore, according to GGE, its SunCube CPV was designed to produce more cost-efficient solar electric power than conventional solar technologies.
The hardware is expected to be delivered by the end of 2008.
