Schools of the future

A consortium consisting of Carillion, the Royal Bank of Scotland and South Tyneside and Gateshead councils has won a 4Ps Award for the South Tyneside and Gateshead Building Schools for the Future programme.

The consortium, called inspiredspaces, won the Joint Public Sector Partnership category at an award ceremony held at Local Government House in London. The 4Ps Awards are aimed at recognising excellence in local government public-private partnership projects.

Inspiredspaces is the private-sector partner chosen by the local authorities to set up their Local Education Partnership with the aim of delivering and managing educational investment in South Tyneside and Gateshead over the next 10 years. Secondary schools and colleges will benefit from up to £400m of investment to deliver transformation in educational outcomes for the local communities.

Mark Harding, general manager, said: ‘The award recognises that the partnership is providing value for money and quality in design, and that it demonstrates effective engagement with all stakeholders.’
