Siemens PLM Software

and Warwick Manufacturing Group (

WMG

) have announced that users of

Warwick Digital Laboratory

will soon have access to more than £22m worth of Siemens PLM Software technology.

The laboratory, a £50m WMG initiative involving the construction of a £13m high-specification building on the Warwick University campus, is due to open late this month.

It will provide facilities for problem solving through collaborative research, demonstrators, knowledge sharing, education and training using Siemens PLM Software’s NX, Teamcenter and Tecnomatix products.

WMG will lead the laboratory work and partner with academic organisations to complete research in a number of areas, including digital manufacturing, e-security, e-business, mass customisation and digital healthcare.

‘British industry risks lagging behind low-cost emerging markets that are continuing to develop their manufacturing excellence,’ said Mark Pickering, director of development at WMG.

He added: ‘The work of the Digital Laboratory will inspire academia and industry to collaborate on new technology and techniques within digital manufacturing and help position UK manufacturers as the best in the world.’
