Northamptonshire-based company, Delta Motorsport, has showcased its achievements at the recent iEXPO event organised by the East Midlands Development Agency (emda).
Part of emda’s iFestival, the event aims to demonstrate innovation within businesses and communities across the region and will be running to 17 April. Simon Dowson, managing director of Delta Motorsport, presented at the iEXPO, which was attended by more than 150 local businesses.
Dowson said: ‘Delta Motorsport has a growing international reputation for bringing together innovative design, creative production solutions and skilled project management.
‘We work hard in developing close relationships with our suppliers and collaboration with businesses that have complementary skills to ours. This way we can apply the best solutions to the particular piece of work – this might be race cars, developing safety products for motorcycles or hybrid and battery electric vehicles. However, we will only continue to stay ahead of the competition if we continue to invest in technology.
‘That is why we are happy to take part in this year’s iFestival. Encouraging innovation across the east Midlands means that everyone can benefit from new ways of thinking or doing business.’
Delta Motorsport designs and manufactures low-volume racing and road cars, with innovation and flexibility a major part of its projects. According to the company, this has given it the scope to design cars for Formula One and undertake work on low- and zero-carbon emissions vehicles.
Dowson said: ‘It is important to our customers that we can work in this way as it allows us to draw together the most appropriate technologies, materials and facilities. This means we are able to deliver challenging projects on time and within budget to the highest standards.’
Funded by a grant by emda, Delta is working on the design of a four-seater electric road car. It is expected to have a range of 250 miles, a top speed in excess of 100mph and will reach 0-60mph in less than five seconds.
The company has also secured a grant of more than £8,000 from East Midlands New Technology Initiative (NTI) to help purchase a further license of Catia V5 CAD software that will allow it to take on more design work in the future.
