This holiday season ERIKS Industrial Services is taking a step forward by foregoing the traditional indoor Christmas tree and planting a Norwegian spruce outside their Oldbury site. In the spirit of giving, the tree will be adorned in collaboration with local hospice charity, Compton Care, marking the start of ERIKS' support for multiple charities throughout December.
Compton Care, a charity offering specialist palliative care and bereavement support for individuals with life-limiting conditions, holds a special place in the hearts of the Oldbury community, having touched the lives of many, including ERIKS staff. ERIKS is proud to stand alongside Compton Care this festive season, expressing gratitude for the invaluable services they provide to the community.
On December 1st, ERIKS employees participated in the tree decoration and official lighting ceremony, contributing to the cause by making donations to Compton Care. Employees exchanged their contributions for a decorative star upon which they wrote a Christmas wish before placing it on the tree. Andy Neville, General Manager Supply Chain Operations who kicked off the celebration by officially illuminating the tree, expressed excitement, stating, "At ERIKS, our commitment to bolstering the local community is unwavering. Collaborating with Compton Care to decorate this tree perfectly underscores this dedication. The holiday period is all about spreading joy and we have certainly done that today."
The 10ft Norwegian Spruce reflects ERIKS' intention to do everything that they can sustainably. The business intends for it to become a central symbol of holiday seasons for years to come with ERIKS employees digging a 5-foot trench to ensure the tree's anticipated growth will be securely housed.
The spirit of giving at ERIKS Oldbury will continue with a Christmas Jumper Day and a Christmas dinner on the 13th of December. During these celebrations, employees will have the opportunity to contribute to a clothing collection for Compton Care, supporting the charity's mission.
In addition to Compton Care, ERIKS Oldbury employees are extending their generosity to other charitable causes, including the national charity Women’s Aid and Leslie's Care Packages C.I.C., which provides care packages to vulnerable groups in the West Midlands.
Andy Neville concluded, "In the glow of our tree, adorned with wishes for a brighter future, we are reminded that our commitment to community extends beyond industry. As we light up this holiday season, we reflect ERIKS' pledge to make a difference in the communities we proudly serve."
